energy efficient buildings
A growing level of resources are consumed globally to meet the ever-increasing energy requirements of buildings. This involves space and water heating, electricity supply for appliances and lighting, in addition to demands for cooling and air conditioning. Due to the long service life of buildings, there is substantial savings potential when investment is made in efficient components and materials. Thanks to detailed calculations and dynamic building simulations, we can precisely determine the potential of various measures. This enables targeted optimisation of buildings, and harmonisation of their services components. We identify the optimal combination of measures required to ensure maximum energy efficiency. Efficiency of scale is also determined. We act as an interface between the client and various industries (building physics, HVAC, lighting, electrical) and also directly between industries.
life cycle costs of a building determine the economic efficiency of energy saving measures
Our ongoing research project sol.e.h.2 in South China deals with the development of economic and ecological systems for solar heating and cooling. The focus is on consistent building optimisation and high solar fractions. The greatest demand is for intelligent combinations of building physics, building services, components and control strategies.
